We'll share How to Make your own Business Cards that Boost Sales and how/when to use them for your restaurant growth and success. Advertising your business is essential for your brand new restaurant, your continued growth and success and making your own business cards is one of our favorite ways to do it.

It's not difficult and when you make your own, you can do it any time you want and not have to wait for them to be shipped to you, especially when you need them at a moments notice. We change the back of the business card often to offer specials and discounts to new customers which is faster and easier when you make your own.  There aren't a lot of supplies you'll need and once you have the basics, you can add to them to create more cards or a different version of the same card for different events plus, share them with your staff - we'll explain more below. Pick up a new business card holder (we love the tiered one above) and place them in a few places around your restaurant so customers can't miss them, they can take and share them.
Use these tips today and start marketing your business.

Simple Supplies you'll Need to Start Making your own Business Cards:

Printer - we love and use an all-in-one fax/scanner/copier since it's the most affordable option for us to make business cards. Our favorite model is the  HP wireless All in One Color Inkjet Printer. It's super easy to set up to your computer, prints fast, clear and in color. We use it for all of our in-house printing projects from making our menus, to printing flyers, table tent messages, documents needed for our inventory and yes, our own business cards. Replacement ink is very affordable and will go a long way until you run out.

Avery Perforated White Inkjet Printer Business Cards (1000) is our choice for the paper to print your cards on since we love the bulk package, white is crisp and clear and it's a nice weight card stock. Think of how many new customers you could reach when you make batches of business cards in one afternoon.

Art for your business cards. Most computers have either Print Shop already installed or Clip Art. You can find these on your own computer by clicking the bottom Start button and scrolling through the Programs. Go through your software discs that came with your computer and search for Print Shop - if you have it, insert into your computer and follow the easy directions to set it up.

If your computer doesn't have these, we use and recommend Print Shop 23 Deluxe that is affordable, easy to set up and start creating loads of designs for business cards, flyers, place cards, menus and more! Check it out and see if it's compatible with your own computer - we use Windows Vista.

     Tagline, motto
     Address/phone/fax/email
     Website

How to Use your new Business Cards to Boost Sales:

  * Always have them with you and hand them out everywhere you go such as the post office, grocery store, hardware store, networking events, seminars, business meetings. Introduce yourself and give a business card with an offer on the back for new customers that aren't aware of your business yet. Invite them to take advantage of the discount. (see below for discount ideas)

  * Mail a business card each time you send out a payment for your business to vendors, banks and any service that you mail a check.

  * Keep your business card holder well stocked in your restaurant near the host desk or entryway so current customers, vendors and visitors can take them.

  * Make a personalized business card for everyone in your organization so they can hand them out to all the people they associate with or meet when they're out and about town.  Include their name and title such as Bethany - Lead Bartender or Mark - Assistant Manager at your service.  One sheet will make 10 business cards so keep your staff stocked with business cards every week. Your staff will be happy to have their own personalized business cards and bringing in new customers is good for your business and also helps them develop their own clientele that comes in and asks for them! Watch your business grow when everyone has their own personalized business card.

  * Use the back of the business card for specials/sales/discount coupon to boost sales on slower business days.
          For example,
Take $5 off your total bill when you buy and entree on Tuesday or Wednesday from 5-6pm.
         Or,
Get a free dessert/appetizer with any entree purchase on Mondays.
         Or,
Book your next party of 20 or more by X date and receive 10% off your total bill.

Create your specials to boost sales during your slowest times and definitely NOT when you're already the busiest (it's weekends for us)!!

  * Give your staff an incentive prize for the person that recommends the most new customers for the month (just collect the names of new people coming in or that show their cards) and make it something everyone that works for you wants (gift card/gift certificate to your restaurant, gas card, bottle of wine (legal age staff only) or CASH incentive)!. It's a great way to get your staff on board with spreading the word about your restaurant and boost sales at the same time.

Even with the increased use of phones, tablets, iphones and all that technology these days, using a simple business card is still an essential marketing tool to help you develop, grow and succeed in your restaurant so we hope you'll start making your own today! Marketing your restaurant is up to you.  It's easy and fun, you'll see.
