Today let's talk about improving your customer service - it can always be better in any business. Better customer service will help you, your staff, your customers and the long term business in your operations. Here's a few tips to keep in mind to remind your staff off and to be aware of yourself. These are our Top 10 Ways We Improve Customer Service Every Day!

Smile - the first thing your customers see when they see you or any of your staff.

Happy Greeting - Welcome! We're happy to see you today. Create your own warm greeting that will set you apart from other restaurants and bars in your area.

Get to know customers by name - especially your regular customers. These great people come to your business often and should be recognized by name to show that you pay attention and that you appreciate them returning often. You'll probably surprised them at first when you know their name and greet them that way! Keep it up and teach your staff how to do it too.

Learn what your customers like - those repeat and regular customers will return knowing that you have their favorite drink on hand, their favorite dish and can recommend it as well as remind them that you just got a new bottle of their favorite wine, scotch or cocktail.

Check on your customers often - follow up on all your customers. Make rounds in your dining and bar areas to make sure that your customers are receiving the customer service that they expect. How is everything? goes a long way in appreciating your customers, making sure they're happy and fill in any gaps in service that might be missing. It will make a big difference in them returning and telling all their friends about the happy experience they enjoyed. They say that one happy customer tells one friend but, one unhappy customer will tell 10! Avoid problems by being proactive now.

Be a good listener - really listen to what the customer is saying and don't just blow them off or think they have a bad attitude. We can all do better at customer service and your staff can learn from you on how to do it right. Find out what your customers like, want and what they'd like to see you offer in the future.

Deal with any problems immediately - I'm sorry and will take care of that right away also goes a long way to make your customers happy, repeat and loyal customers!

Offer a complimentary cocktail, appetizer, dessert or gift certificate to customers that aren't happy and for any time that you can't correct the problem now. Sometimes, we find out about problems after the fact and you can avoid future problems by doing something now for those customers.
